Brief on Kenya - Pakistan Bilateral Trade Relations

Pakistan and Kenya enjoy cordial bilateral Trade relations. Kenya and Pakistan have maintained a strong bilateral and economic relationship with the World Trade Organization (WTO) agreements and several MOUS at its center. Kenya–Pakistan's growing trade relationship is rooted in a shared commitment to the rules-based international order. This relationship is characterized by cooperation between Kenya–Pakistan private sectors and Kenya–Pakistan governments working collaboratively on various global issues.

The traditional products of Tea and Rice mainly drive trade. Other products exported from Kenya to Pakistan include:

  • Coffee
  • Spices
  • Raw hides and skins and leather
  • Textile articles
  • Inorganic chemicals Edible vegetables and certain roots and tubers
  • Live trees and other plants
  • Cut flowers and ornamental foliage
  • Plastics and articles thereof
  • Edible fruit and nuts
  • Peel of citrus fruit or melons among others

However, there is a huge potential to grow the product and service base that can be traded between the two countries potential for more products to Pakistan is held back by either policy, regulatory, or awareness issues.
